they are cheap low comp pistons. std size is 75 and over bore is 76mm i think. they are not forged but i have seen many people making sick hp on the internet.
there are bunch of people using them.....FJT sells them for 123...bucks if not a little more...with rings...they have been proven up to 400WHP - 300+ WTQ....there excellent pistons...cheap...and work...not only that, you can have bragging rights....SUZUKI POWA..hahah
got em in the block right now, only slight difference from po8 pistons, and they handle boost like crazy

awsome what type of rods, and rings would u use?
I had vitaras/tt rods never installed them and sold them, worst thing ever Now bought eagles/vitaras. I think they are good for what they are worth... Think about it you are going to have a semibuilt block for around $300-$450
ic so if i go with eagle rods for my D15 Z1 what rods do i get?
you should use the search button.

but the vitara setup with TT rods is bad ass from what i hear. i will most likely be ordering them in a few months. welcome to the forum by the way
just search man. you even said yourself you were reading threads about them...so just keep reading. there are lots of threads about them already

eagle rods fit d15's?
from what I know both Eagle and TT dont make D15 rods, I have never seen a aftermarket D15 Rod but have heard of some on with forged D15 rods from this forum

Eagles will not work in your motor.
its best just to find a 1.6l block...
I would use Tuner Toy rods or some nice Eagles....
vitaras will yield closer to 9.2:1 in a d15z1, sticking out of the deck a little (with z1 rods of course) so you're getting away from the lowered compression that most desire, yet making a functional bottom end for use with a non-vx head

wonder what the comp. would be in a d16y8? Someone told me around a 8:8:1?
8:9 Cr using OEM gasket i bealive....
Buy a D16Z6 block and some Eagle rods and vitara pistons and install them out of the car and piece together your turbo system too. All the while you're still using your gas friendly N/A engine. That's what i'd do. Don't install it till you have everything in place.
Like others have said Vitaras are an awesome deal, I run them in a d16y7 my total build cost (did all the work myself) was like $8-900. That includes all new oem gastkets, z6 oil pump (had to modify for the y7), acl bearings, Eagles, and some tools I had to purchase for the build. +-2000 mies on my motor now and its great. The pistons are little noisy but not bad.
We are running one of these setups right now. Vitaras and our own rods. The pistons will cost you about $125 from fjt, and the rods are $225 from us. With about $40 in machining, you'll have just about everything you need for a lower compression setip in most D16 engines.

Here is a link to the rods. (back in stock after the holidays, we sold out!)

D16 HBeam Rods as Tuner Toys

Although I am not sure about the D15B VTEC motor specifically, I believe that most of the D15 cranks have smaller journals, so cannot use the rods normally used for a D16 engine. I beleive that there is one company making rods for the D15, but at $700 a set, they are pretty pricey.

I'd find yourself a D16 core at the junkyard, and build it up. Throw on a hone and some bearings, along with the TTRods and Vitara pistons, and you'll have a boost happy shortblock going. Add any D compatible head, and you're done! An easy route is going A6 Block, Y8 Head, Vitaras and TT Rods. The Y8 head brings compression within reason, and accept the Y8 (OBD2) or A6 (OBD0) distributors. Use the Z6 head for OBD1 distributors.

Hope that helps,

Craig
