D15b/y8 head Turbo build 300hp+

Hey whats up guys, new to this site but hoping to get some help on my upcoming build. So to start off im trying to build a fast street/track car. Im trying to do this with a single cam. I have a fresh (40-60k) d15b block with a y8 head. Ofc im willing to buy cams , pistons and all the good stuff to make it fast but ive heard a d16z6 is the way to go. Does it still matter?even If im going to change the internals on the d15b or should i buy d16z6 block and waste my money on that , what is it that makes people get z6s? What are the pros it has ?

Simple more aftermarket parts for the z6 motor.
To support that 300hp, your need thicker rods. z6, 7y ,8 are the most conman motors and there for the rods are built for them.

There are a few people that make custom rods for the d15 motors.

Ok cool , so you think if i just buy a z6 short block and slap my y8 head onto it, it would be fine right. Would i run into timing belt problems?

No, you just need to get the right belt.

I would sell the head or buy the motor, ie keep a complete y8 or z6.

The z6 is preferred for a few reasons but the y8 can be made to work just as well.

I would love to build my y8 and not blow it up to shut down the hate about the bottom end, but I am starting from the bottom so it will be a minute before it sees boost for real.

lol. TUNE IT.

but the y motors had oiling problems so you might have went dry and spun a rod, then lock up and throw it out the block.
Im Looking at listings for the motor but i can barely find anyone selling d16z6's. All i can find is d16zc. Ive did a little bit a research but can anyone clarify it for me , so far ive read that they are both the same engine just that the ZC is the jdm version of the usdm z6 BUT that the Zc has like 2-3 more hp because of the cams/ecu?? But aside from that can i run the same d16z6 parts on the Zc if i were to buy it. Or would that just be a whole different thing to deal with.

How big of a spoon do you have or do we need to bring that for you too?
You already read it's the same, read more until you know what the differences are.

Ok cool. I usually use google.com, I type basic shit like difference between d16z6 and zc and find definitive answers within a few minutes of reading, instead of asking someone else and waiting for a response. But hey that's just me.

If u want a quick track car going turbo is a bad idea. Ur gonna go faster from brakes and suspension and a proper short ratio gear box. itll be more fun, AND youll overheat stuff and break stuff way less.

Id rather run a whole session than be fixing stuff or backing off so i dont overheat half the time. And for what? A few mph on the straight?

Scca civics run n/a and they are real racecars.
