i heard its not good to put crank pulleys or light wieght alternator and powr steering pulleys on high mile motors....why?

Damn this is a hard one.I've heard do it and No way don't do it.I read the whole article but still unsure if by doing it I will gain a couple of horses or not.I know if this is the case then of coarse Don't do it but...
Biggest argument I've heard is that it will fry ya main Bearings...
I have PS and Air Con-D16y8 Auto.
Any feedback plz guys.
