I wonder if the guy that went through 4 ebay turbo's in a several year span and he didn't even push them past 25lbs had the failures because he ran a low zinc& phosphorous oil?

I'm not saying he didn't run a high zinc oil. I'm just wondering. Many factors could be involved.

So it's saying to use high Zinc/Phos Oils,

Rotella would be a good alternative for the budget minded guy, as you can pick it up at places like Shucks and Walmart.

But for break in, is standard dyno juice best to aid in ring seal?

Rotella is a great oil period. But what exactly is your question? He is saying that you want to break in an engine with a non-synthetic oil.

Rotella 10w 30 is a non synthetic with extra zinc/phos.
Castrol GTX is non synthetic without extra zinc/phos.
Mobil 1 Race is synthetic with extra zinc/phos.
Mobil 1 synthetic is a synthetic without extra zinc/phos.

What don't you get?

Im asking if you want elevated Zinc during break in.

Ha, when you have flat tappet cams you still want an elevated level of zinc and phosphorus to protect your flat tappet cam during brake in and after. It won't affect the rings sealing.
Generally speaking, synthetic oils, high mileage oils, and putting a bunch of lucas in the oil makes the oil too slippery for proper ring sealing abilities.

Shell Rotella still works pretty well for our flat tappet cams and break in.
