I guess your motor is our d15b8 7o hp motor depending on boost levels is your hp but i would not boost this crappy motorcause it will probly put a rod thru the block. so 4lbs of boost should put you atleast 100 hp

No man, the D14 is way different to the D15b8. Compare it to the D16y7 (same head, IM, paired injecting system... everything!), but with less stroke and puny little rods.

People in Greece, Turkey, Israël... the southern end of Europe and Eurasia so to say, seem to be avid D14 boosters. I've seen a couple on the web, making approx. 150-170whp (+15% for bhp). I've also seen a Dutch one, but he didn't make a lot of power (130whp or so). The rods are puny but the R/S ratio is better than that of a D15/D16, taking some stress away from the rods.

I'd say :

- swap the intake manifold for a D16z6 or D16y8 one, use a P06 or P28 ECU (you'll need to modify the harness or run an OBD-2 to OBD-1 conversion harness such as Boomslang's)
- boost it till it blows, then swap out the block (just the block !) for a D16 (any one will do, except the DOHC blocks) and boost reliably

Where are you located ? Over here (Belgium) the charge that at the scrapyard/dealer as well, but second hand a D16z6 for instance (the most expensive one generally) never exceeds 650 with a head and IM etc included... Bare block, no head : maybe 250 bucks.

there is no d that wont support boost, its just how much that matters. That, and the 100 less cc's that it has means that you would have to supply it a smaller airflow turbo. T3 is probably too big and flows to many cfm's of air... i would say that a t25 or a 14b at about 5 psi would work but you wont see a as much increase in hp considering you only have 70 to begin with. and as orion stated the R/S is greater therefore less stress on the rods. but the rods are still puny... any detonatioin would blow major holes in that block.

is it possible? hell ya
is it worth it? probably not... once boosted all you do is crave more... before you know it, you will have to replace your blown engine after turning up the boost too high. (speaking from experience)

It's doable, I know someone who bought a 4A-GE blacktop complete with the stock ITBs, airbox, ECU, harness, manifold, etc... from a company in Canada, it only cost him a grand including shipping.

But seriously, you must be able to find one cheap... don't let people rip you off ! Send a PM to cryz2 or to Devere, they are experienced members on here from the UK. I'm sure they'll know of a hook-up for ya somewhere. ;)

Wow, that's a good price for a D15b with gearbox. A D15b (JDM only, not our European D15b2/b7) can take as much abuse or more than a D16. Can you say "easy 250 bhp" ?

im in the uk cant really find anything thats a good price they nearly go for the same price as as b16a2
i can get a d16z6 for £200-£400 with a tranny and ECU.

you just need to look harder, and avoid japanese specialist breakers.

Bumping a damn old thread here guys!
I mananged to get a D16Z6 engine complete with inlet mani, injectors, clutch, flywheel, gearbox, alternator, distributor and wiring harness for £100....
Gearbox is OK and then engine was a good 'un.

I wouldnt boost a D14 really, but then again I wouldnt boost a stock D16 over here either.
