I got my 89 DOHC ZC and am trying to change the timing belt before I put it in my 1990 Civic. I am having trouble getting the cams to line up with the crank at TDC. If I put the cams at their TDC positions, the crank gear is off by 1/2 a tooth. If I reposition the belt by one tooth on the cam gears, then the crank gear is off by 1/2 tooth in the other direction. I am very confused by this, since 34 teeth on the cam gears and 17 teeth on the crank gear mean that moving the belt one tooth on the cam gears should give me the 1/2 tooth I need on the crank gear, but it doesn't. I've been messing with Honda engines for over 15 years, and I've never come across this before. Help!

Thanks,
Mike
