Hey everyone. I was going with a B16A swap originally, but might have found a good deal on a d16z6 block. If I can grab that block, I'll get ahold of a d16z6 head, and swap it all in. My question is: I currently have a 91' CRX DX. I am going to boost (goal is to hit high 12's...), quite a bit, infact. I was thinking the DX tranny would be best, because it would allow me to stay under boost longer..does this sound reasonable? If it doesn't, would a z6 tranny be better for my little project? I hadn't originally planned on a D-series swap, but the opportunity came, so I figure why not..

Thanks for your time. Take it easy.

I would try the z6 tranny first. I don't think you can do 12lbs on stock internals w/o mods. You will have to goto a hydro trans also.
You could try water injection to obtain that boost on stock internals but its very tricky. Mostly everyone I've seen with a stock z6 runs 4-8lbs to be safe.
Try www.homemadeturbo.com or post here on Forced induction, they have guys out there runnin that kinda boost on stock d15s & d16 twin turbos too. IMO these guys are sick but they definitely have big stones.

check out my post in engine building..plans were to build it HEAVILY...which I probably did not give the impression of in this post. I'll give the z6 tranny a shot, then. The deal fell through on the z6 block, but I'm still looking at buying one in a month or so. Still determined to hit 12's with one.

I read your post, I suggest you stay with the original displacement of the motor you decide on B or D, boring the sleeves too thin is a no no for high boost, the sleeves distort quickly. If you must, stay d series for now, its cheaper and there are alotta blocks out there to build. I think the best plan would be to build a d16a6 bottom, port the a6 head and, put quality parts in it, forged everything, arp bolts, cometic head gasket and skip the vtec for now. I bought into the vtec and its a money pit, only to find that the 12sec guys use roller rockers to defeat the vtec. Search online for a guy named Mista Bone, he has a d series motor runnin a zex 75 shot hittin 13.09. The secret is in the trans. He has combined gear sets from dx,zc and si trannys to make a close ratio gearset that keeps him revvin so well that he can drop minimal rpms between shifts and maintain his hp range without comprimise. Crazy thing here is no turbo, all junkyard parts, zc pistons d15 head, d16 block, d15y rods, high compression. I'm sure he'll make 12s soon. Check it, search it.

Yeah...I (sort of) know Mista bone. I post with him over at crx.honda-perf.org. Haven't heard of his setup, though. I'd be satisfied with 12's, period. It all depends on what kind of deals I can find between now, and spring break (when I plan on doing the swap). If I find a nice deal on a B-series, I'll take it. If I found a nicely priced ZC, or other D-series..I'll take it too. Anything is an upgrade from here. But I'm still determined to hit those 12's..and the 300hp mark.
