alrighty thanks for an actual answer I think i found what I need i need a 92-95 del sol si gearbox and a 96-00 civic ex final driveAre you wanting a shorter geared transmission?
I would research "honda D series transmission gearing" and see what you get. Lots of info, and you can dial in what you want, given tire size, engine rpm, alignment of the stars, the strength of the passing trucker's fart, etc...
It's the biggest ratio aside from an 02 civic ex or a sohc zc but with the si del sol gearing and that bigger fd ratio it gives the best of bost worlds, acceleration but maintaining a higher top speed. Atleast I'm pretty sure, I can drop a chart that has all the gearing info if you want to take a lookWhy do you need the EX FD?
What are you goals?
The man you're talking to likely made those chartsI can drop a chart that has all the gearing info if you want to take a look
Hmmm idk then I do know the del sol so trans seems to be the way I've heard that from multiple sources but I want a longer fd. So far this is what I've been going off of for my information on numbers, but I've been reading around on what those numbers mean. I've been working 14+ hours days this week so I've forgotten some of what I read lolThe FD's are the same, why I was asking.
About those charts and casting codes to ID the trans., Without me and my work 25+ years ago most of the info wold still be unknown, which is why I'm asking before you make a huge mistake, esp mentioning a 7g trans when we are discussing 5g trans.
I just realized you're absolutely right my bad bro. Thanks for your knowledge though I appreciate itThe FD's are the same, why I was asking.

Okay I'll look into that tommorow, and by less economical I mean more acceleration, but I don't want to throw top speed out the window. It could be my dx trans or I'm tripping cause these cars weren't the fastest to begin with. I don't really know much about gearing a watched a simple yt video that explained it so I might have no clue what I need or want, the longer the gear was more torque but less top end was basically what I picked up or maybe the other way around. Thanks again though I'ma go back to the drawing board and see what else I can learn about this before I look. I just need a trans soon and I don't want to buy one to then build a different one a month or two laterI still dont know what "swapping in something a little less economical" means
What is the overall goal?
short 1-3 with long 5th for the highway?
Honestly, do a graphing of a stock 92+ civic VX trans and throw in a 96+ DX final and see if you like the graph output. The VX had long gearing and a super long final, but it was also being used on a torque focused 1.5 that didnt even make much power beyond 4500 rpms.
A halfway decent 1.5 or 1.6 vtec setup would actually run fairly strongly, and still get great cruising fuel economy. Use a mildly ported d15b7 intake, and you have great low end potential, and a small turbo can always fill the upper rev range in the future.
Its like injectors and injection pump swaps for the diesel coal rollers.I still dont know what "swapping in something a little less economical" means
Try 1996 to2000 EX WITH D16y8 ENGINE THE TRANNY HAVE A 4.26 final DRIVE , O WHAT FEELING ,YOU WILL NOT GO BACK TO A DX TRANNY, DADDYDAVE. 707I have a 96 civic dx manual trans. Im looking to swap to something a little less economical lol. Anyone have any information on what's compatible or know what would be a better trans for me?
