yeah i was just wondering if ppl have done it themselves, and do you know anyone with a used mill or where to get one cheapish

mills are expensive man. and also weigh a tonne. your better off paying the hour labor rate at a shop and getting it done. but you can do it with the other tools too. it will work just fine. but when you use a mill you can just run a 1" end mill over it a few times and you have perfectly straight sides on the notch and a flat bottom and just looks very clean. not necessary tho

straight cuts on the girdle or block (aka milled notches) arent always the best idea.
it can cause some nasty stress risers in the bottom end

a good carbide tip cutter and some sanding cartridges to smooth work very well
a dremel can work if you have the patience as well
