That is a question. Is the jury still out?
I have a near perfect a6 crank that has identical #2 rod journals and BBCBB mains. I mic'd them and they are all perfect. It was even micro polished. There is one problem though. A ding in the number 4 rod top dead center. It's a nail-biter, pun intended. I have no idea how much would have to be taken off to get rid of this flaw.
I have run and spun regrinds and untouched cranks. I don't think any shops near me can harden journals.
The range of answers I have found to this are diverse and are backed by iffy anecdotal evidence. I don't really expect to settle this here but maybe we can figure something out.
This is a 300 whp track build and I use 20w50 vr1 racing oil. I have had good luck with stock bearings/clearance on the mains and I was thinking 15 to 20 tenths on the rods with race bearings. What clearances do you recommend?

Never grind a Honda crank you plan to make power with. Cost of grinding/hardening is more then buying a new one.
