Thrashed Timing Belt

So I was checking my oil today and I looked at my timing belt and the mother fucking thing is torn to shit about all around it about a hlaf inch wide on the motor side of it. And I just replaced the motor about 4k miles ago and with it a new timing belt what do you think could have caused this. I'm baffled
