Will a d16y5 head gasket work on a D16a6? What I've found from searching is that a Y5 and y8 gasket are similar and you guys use y8 gaskets on a6's so anybody got a clue? Also, what is their compressed thickness?

I got a y5 HG on my a6 and quite a few of the water jacket holes don't line up very well. Also, two of the outside head bolt holes had to be slotted.

And for whatever reason, it burns oil like champ. I am pretty sure it isn't HG related (99% sure its the valve guides) But still . . .

I would just mill the head an extra .010" and run a graphite.

This is for my high compression D16

I'll be shaving at least .020 off the head, probably more like .040(depends on how much I deck the block. Anyway, with P29's I'd be better served by the thicker A6 gasket or perhaps even a cometic gasket to stand up to 12.5:1 compression. Anybody need a Y5 gasket? I actually have the whole gasket set, all of the bottom end stuff is the same, correct? Just a head gasket and maybe valve cover difference? thanks for the replies.
