As we continue to sell more and more ecu more questions come up from customers. So we wanted to play myth busters and put a few things to rest.

1. A chipped ecu will not fix check engine lights, if you have a check engine light on you need to figure out why its on.
Honda and Acura OBD1 Trouble codes. How to read check engine light codes and what they mean.

2.If you get a chipped ecu and your check engine light is on, the rev limiter or launch control might not work correctly depending on what trouble codes you have .

3. A chipped ecu is not a tune, a tune is a tune. A chipped ecu comes with a basemap which enables you to start the car, check for any problems then bring it to a tuner for a dyno tune. If the engine is completely stock, a tune is not needed.

4. All obd2 honda ecu can't be chipped no matter how many times your friend says they can be chipped.

5. Launch control works when the car is at a complete stop and the throttle is pressed down 100% .

6. A chipped ecu will not turn you into a character from street fighter named dhalsim and enable you to shoot mad fire balls at people.

Feel free to ask us any other questions you might have.

You can chip an OBD2 ECU, its just pointless to bother with when OBD0/1 is so much easier and jumper harnesses are readily available.

rep for mr bobby

I get these questions a lot...

you may want to add that chipping a p06 and putting a vtec map on it will not enable vtec or convert your ecu to a vtec ecu...it needs a vtec conversion kit soldered in....then add a vtec map...its one not on your list I hear a lot

p.s. you need to sponsor west Michigan Honda meet or even better http://gridlife.co/
