I broke down and bought a Synchrotech rebuilt transmission with carbon coated synchros, had them install my Mfactory diff and put the Mfactory 4.7 FD in at the same time. This is in my 1989 crx si with d16a6

Tired of old worn stock transmissions and had some screw ups while rebuilding my transmissions, I figured that having a drop and drive fix was better for me.

Synchrotech was very easy to deal with, they waited for my diff to arrive and sent me back a beautiful clean transmission packed SUPER well. It installed easily, and works right. Shifts super smooth, pickup is notably better and along with all the other new crap in my car its a blast to drive.

I know its a steep price, but if the transmission lasts me 200k miles of fun driving it is worth it. I also put a new exedy sport clutch in at the same time, must say it all pairs up nicely.

What is a ballpark price of a service like that? With you providing the diff or them?

I already owned the Mfactory diff so they inspected and installed it at no charge.

I think the base transmission was about 500 then 100 more for carbon synchros, then the final drive. If you have a good rebuildable core you can send it to Aquafina/Whoopee DOo racing you can probably get it all a little bit cheaper, but I was down to questioning whether i even had that...and they had no core charge on the D series cable.
