i have the skunk2 rear lower tie bar on my 95 HB and i'd like to add a rear sway bar

based on pics i've seen where the sway bar mounts to it looks like the tie bar won't allow a rear sway bar to be mounted becase the mounting points for the sway would be in the way of the tie bar and vice versa.

anyone have a tie and sway bar set-up that isn't s complete kit like the comptech?

i'dlike to get either the Skunk2 or the Suspension Techniques rear sway and i'd like to keep my Skunk2 tie bar

you should be fine if you get the skunk2. I believe that it mounts up to all of the factory points. you can contact skunk2 to find out for sure. or you could do a factory rear sway bar and know for sure that you wouldn't have any mounting issues

are the factory sway bar mounting holes on the GSR and Del Sol DOHC VTEC LCAs the same or different?

reason being the Skunk2 rear bar requires them in order to work on my EG.

I'm not sure about the lca question.

have you changed them from your stock?

since skunk listed the rear sway bar as

Honda Civic, Del Sol 1992-2000 523-05-0860
Acura Integra 1994-2001 523-05-0860

then I would assume as long as you have the hole in your lca for the endlinks you should be fine.

thanks man. a guy on the Solo Ontario messageboards told me that they are the same. I've read that you can drill the hole yourself but i'm not sure if i'd want to.

I was looking at thos SRR rear LCAs and they look nice but i'm not sure about them yet. I still have to do some homework about them first. Ilike the idea that they are lighter and have the mounting holes for sway bars already in them.

personally i dont like tie bars...they dont help much from my experience driving a car w/just tie bar VS a car with just a rear swaybar. ex: my old '91 Si w/ITR rear sway bar =23mm(22maybe?) made much more of a difference than having only a rear "tie bar" lower, even with rear strut bar, the difference VS the ITR was big. I think i read it in ST or some suspension article, increasing the diameter of a rear sway bar increases/multiplies the stiffening or handling by the 4th power (thats 2x2). If you like the blingy effect of a tie bar, by all means ride how ya like. I dont think a ITR rear swaybar will fit with a skunk2 tie bar tho.

it all depends what you get. I have a suspension techniques sway bar/tie bar combo and holy shit it just holds. if you have a sway bar and add a tie bar it will help to make it alittle bit stiffer. but you can't expect a huge gain from a bar that is only a foot long.

I know the original question was compatibility/fitment with using a lower brace/sway bar, but there's no contest - any upgraded rear swaybar will make much more difference in the dynamic handling of the car than a rear lower brace.

A stiffer rear sway bar will effectively increase rear spring rate under load so that understeer is greatly reduced and the car's roadholding is increased.

A rear lower brace just minimizes deflection in the suspension points, which won't happen without a ton of grip/spring rate in the first place. It's next to pointless in a front-wheel-drive application where most of the vehicle weight is up front.

I read a lot about the rear lower tie bar not doing anything. Maybe I'm just super sensitive to how my car handles but I noticed a big difference putting a DC on my DX.

Right after putting it on I felt the difference in precision while swerving back and forth in my lane at like 30mph. It took out more slop than the front and rear upper tie bars combined. Let me also add that I don't run sway bars on this car (I can push it harder in the rain without plowing straight through corners).

yeah I had just a tie bar on the rear before. and when turning hard corners I could feel it making the rear a little bit more stable. but it didn't help near as much as the rear sway/tie bar combo setup that I have now.
