Swapping d16Y1 in 1995 civic CX

I bought a d16y1 from Hmotors and a buddy and I are swapping it in.

Any helpful tips or things to watch out for to make this a smooth process?

Car is a 1995 civic CX that had a d15b8 originally.

Looking at the rywire d16z6 component locations sheet (assuming d16y1 wiring is identical to the d16z6)

Everything looks to swap right over. I just need to wire up vtec and the 4 wire o2 sensor. I've bought the rywire vtec sub harness and 4 wire o2 harness for that.

Do I need to go OEM with the o2 sensor because they are 200$ or I found a used one for 30$ from a 1997 EX

Is the d16y1 rated at 129hp because Australia pump gas is a higher octane?

Thanks

so you want the past 22 years covered in one post?
No, just any tips or advice. I've got a pretty good idea of what needs to be done but I want to make sure.

I have instructions for removing and installing the stock engine. So if that is all I need then make this thread disappear.

-I've read I need a 4 wire o2 sensor but the D16Y1 has 1 wire.

-I have a p28 ecu and know I need to add vtec wires.

-All sensors should be PnP.

Replaced the thermostat today along with the spark plug seals, valve cover gasket and grommets.

The thermostat was pretty corroded and moldy. I'll post a picture....

The picture of the thermostat is on my tablet so I'll have to upload it later.

If anybody wants a specific picture or measurements of the engine I'll gladly post it since there's not too much info on a d16y1.

Have the old engine out and need help with the stock harness.

I'll post a picture of the two side by side but I don't mind spending the cash and buying a d16z6 harness if it would make everything a lot easier.

Also, the 2 post engine mount is different on the D16Y1. Do I just swap it for the d15b8?

I'll post up some pictures in a little.

Got the swap done. For some reason the temp gauge barely moves up, and when the cooling fan comes on it the needle will drop down to C.

The thermostat is new, OEM and seems to be functioning properly. Coolant temps stay around 220°F.

Right now I have no o2 sensor in my Holley header because I need to extend it and figure out what wire to connect from the bosch 4 wire connector to the 1 wire engine harness connector.

Im using a remanufactured OEM P28 ecu but haven't ran vtec wires to it yet. I may buy a rywire harness once my new clutch breaks in.
