What is the bolt on the front of the engine for? Its on the left side of the engine and has orange paint on it. Im breaking down my A6 for a rebuild. I broke the bolt loose but it wouldnt come out so i torqued it back down and broke my 19mm 1/2in drv socket. :neutral:

I think it might be engine coolent drain plug on a y7 its in the back and has a funny color like that. Plus its also torque down to 58ftlbs. maybe this is the same would probally explain whey you might of broke your wrachet. just my guess. i dont know what this bolt is for sure just throwing out an idea.

yeah that is the collant drain plug. since you got the head off dont worry about it.

sounds like a mighty tough bolt....damn.....wish they would make alot more bolts that tough

yea but its got some trash stuck down in that hole. i tried to get it out with a screw driver. I just wanna make sure theres absolutely nothing down in there.
