Dohc zc obd 1. Short ram intake, exhaust with brand new o2 sensor running a p29. Sometimes it acts like it has no power then all of a sudden it takes off. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. I was at 1/4 throttle a bit ago hit 2nd gear and all it did was spit and sputter and I gave it more gas and it started working right. Any ideas?

Nothing yet. It just started. Its too hot to go stand in the sun and look at it. Just trying to get ideas so when it cools off later I know what to look for

Check the valves.

Check the compression.

Check the plugs.

Close the plug gap down to about 0.025" and see if it improves.

Test high tendsion leads

Test coil.

Inspect dissy cap and rotor. The posts need to look REAL shitty before they are a problem, but moisture, dirt, cracks and especially carbon tracks can be a real problem.

I agree with pat on everything except the plug gap. If you are not boosted i would recommend leaving the plug gap at .044 or maybe only .040. If your coil is weak reducing gap will only mask the problem.

The reason to close the gap down is not to fix the problem. It's to locate the problem. If tight gap fixes it, you then test ignition components.

Compression looks low, but not enough to cause real problems.
