Yes it would be off. I'm not sure how much exactly it will be. I wouldn't figure it'd be much.

Couldn't honestly tell ya, if you're off because of tire size then most likely.

Just measure it from mile marker to mile marker.
^^ This is your best bet to find out how much it is off.

It will be off by a percentage rather than an absolute number.

The way to kinda fix it is to do the relatively simple sums in your head so you learn what the indicated speed actually is. Heck even use a felt tip pen to mark important speeds on the dial.

i have the same issue, 10 Kph off on the speedo (reeds 10 higher so it makes my car look faster!!)

my trans serieal says s40 and from my research this is a LX trans from 96+ and not an SI. which have different ratios.

my 93 civic also has a 99si cluster i do have a rpm from factory and there is a blue outline around the rpms, speed, ect (hence 99 guages)

Could the fact that i have si cluster and lx trans bugger the reading or do i have all my stuff wrong here. i dont know the history of the car bought like this!!

Typically wrong speedo is change to tyre rolling dia. Anyway even from factory, speedos are often a fair bit off. The Honda speedo gear is driven bt the differential where it turns at wheel speed so the FD does not influence it. I can't speak for different models

n00b Question

Is there a way to have it recalibrated? My 96EK also has it 10MPH faster, and I can only asume it's because of the bigger wheels. The EG does not have the same problem since it rolls on 15's

All my cars have been about 10% off
Ford escort, VW bora and the civic.
I thought about 10% was average.

!0% is convenient as it makes the maths real easy to do in the head. Indicated 50 = 45 or 55 depending on which way it's out.

my cable speedo is increasingly off. its a little ahead till 20. on till 40 then at 55 its showing 60 at "90" im only going like 78-79. So much fun for a passenger though. "OMG we're going 120 slow down!"

My cable speedo gets inaccurate by a bigger %age as it gets faster and varies from day to day, but it's done 400,000kms

My one with 200,000kms is only about 3% out.

I now just use the satnav to calibrate in my mind.
