Recently, I've started getting a puff of bluey/white smoke after I've been sat stationary for a short time. So Oil I'm assuming.
As soon as I pull away, I get the puff, then nothing till I pull away from being stationary again.

Any ideas?

^Yep, Happened to me on my Civic when I had the original head on it. I rebuilt the z6 head I had before it even went on the car just so I knew the stem seals would be good and not smoke on startup.

Pretty common. You can drive like that for thousands of miles, I have poofs as well and use about a quart between oil changes. Just keep an eye on your consumption, and pretend to be a diesel.

valve GUIDES.....

This is more correct. The guides get worn and cause the seals to wear prematurely or just get hogged out. The guides need replacing with the seals.
