quick question. since we can put the d16y8 intake manifold on or cars im guessing i can port out the the intake manifold from skunk2 to fit on our motor to right? somebody give me some good educated guessing feedback. trash talkers arent welcome :stfu:

I am not tyring to take your thread, but does the Y8 manifold just bolt right up and everything just plug right in?

what are the gains of doing this?

its a D17.... GAINS LOL!!!! thats a good one...

That motor in a nutshell:
Cold air Intake: +1hp
Header: +5-6hp
Catback: +5 maybe
Y8 swap: +5-6

LOL... yeah gains NOT SO GREAT! and those number reflect an A2.
ON my old NA motor, never dynoed, just had CAI, header, and catback, some springs and kdw tires and pulled a [email protected] That motor isnt to great unless you turbo it, then you still have to do a ton of work. *que clint or andy*

But if your going to spend that amount of money, sell the car get something else with power.

So you can put the Y8 pistons and rods in the D17 block? What would the C/R be for something like that?

im doing a special project to get this motor up to 210 hp thats my goal just for autocross. but also add in the crower cam into this varible with stroked y8 pistons and rods
Make sure you have read all the rules for auto-xing. What you do to your motor effects what class you are in. what class you run in effects how much you own, or get owned!

You would want to run STS if you plan on winning anything. Look up SCCA Solo II STS class rules.

i dont have the exact specs of it yet but when i do ill post it up. im still in the drawing phase of this project.
Keep us posted on the Y8 piston/rod. My friend has a D17 and we are looking into building it up too.

LOL thats a good one, apperently you dont know the d17 to well.

even with a stage 3 cam, forged internals, a 15:1 CR, Race gas, knifed and balanced crank, PNP head you still wont hit 200 hp.

D17 == Fail for modding other than FI

N00b lol your funny! trust me i know. I wanted power so i swapped mine with a k20a added a SC and called it a day. The kind of money he would have to spend would render that car undrivable for daily use. Not to mention it would take him out of STS and put him into SM.

Oh big guy now calling me a noob im so scared you sound just like your dad. A lot of things come into play at this point. All about your personal preference, if you wanna have bought horsepower or make it from something that doesn't have it or even thought of it seriously. People say these engine are piles, just for the fact nothing is compatible or saying you can't make high N/A horsepower even if you have forged internals blah blah blah. Material has nothing to do with it at this point. Your bottom end you need to be concerned is the bore and stoke, but like i said its about how big your pocket is to get a one off part. An for the top end its about CFM and volumetric efficiency - the ability for your engine to breathe.

Yes i know there is other factors like cams (actual duration, lobe separation, lift ect..), valve train to compression but it all relates to CFM!! and volumetric efficiency. So before you call me a noob and say it can't be done just cause you haven't SEEN IT IN A FORUM doesn't mean it can't happen. :)
