I just bought an airesearch t3/t4 .60 trim turbo used. Has small amount of side to side play does not touch the housing. Housing has no marks indicating anything is scraping. My worry is it has a small amount of in and out movement. I'm not sure exactly how much. Maybe 1/16-1/8". The seller says it was fine when he ran it no noise, smoke, or scraping. Turbo looks good, it is dry so I'm wondering if this will allow some play. Also compressor side is dry and exhaust side has normal carbon soot. So I don't believe the oil rings to b bad either. Just worried thanks for the help.

If it has 1/16" linear play then it is scrap.
If there is no oil in the core then you should barely feel the play
If there is oil in the core then you must not be able to feel the play.

i havent actually measured it im not sure how much there is. its not much but there is some in and out. i havent put oil in it yet to see if that resolves anything.
