ok boys, heres the deal!! Bought myself a d16a6 out of a 91 crx to swap into my 89 civic si, all I used was the block and head, the intake is off of the 89 d16a6. After building it all from block up (I surfaced the head, re-seated all the valves etc) new headgasket, I went to fire it up, and it would seem I'm only runnin on 3 cylinders, either that or the timing is severely WRONG! lol! I timed it by putting the keyway pointing to the little arrow on the timing belt cover, and the cam in the "up" position with the two slashes square with the edgle of the head. my question would be if that is correct or not, should I have put the keyway straight up like the cam? any help is appreciated, I'd like to finish this today!
thanks!

if it was that simple, I wouldn't be asking people for help, the whole ignition is new 2 months ago, blaster coil with msd cap and rotor and wires. plugs are also brand new yesterday, spark is not an issue.

nopers, thats why my best friends when takin everything out was a sharpie and masking tape, I labled everything. Although, when I put the dizzy back on the cam, I just put it in, I wasn't paying attention to where the slot sits, can you put that slot in the cam backwards? THAT would throw out my timing for sure

if the cam and or dizzy is wore out you can put them in 180 out. they arent suppose to but if there is wear then it will go in this way. you can try and flip 180 and try it but i dont it would run period if it was that far off. If that doest work then take the bolts out of the dizzy allowing it to advance or retard to a maximum. hold it in place, have someone crank it up and advance it or retard it past the stock holes and if it clears up then you are most likely 1-3 teeth off, i done the same thing when doing what you are doing. just a thought

thanks bro, I'll give it a try, see what happens, my nice little haynes manual said to point the key at the arrow on the timing cover, but all my other cars I just put the key all the way up, so I guess I will fuck around with the easy shit first, and hopefully it works out. thanks for the help!
