was wondering what kind of rods would i need to use for pm6 pistons in a d16y8 engine, plan on using a 2 layer head gasket. will i have valve clearance issues? would it be better to use a y7 block? will i need to tune for 11:1 compression?

tried searching but all i could find was mini-me builds and such. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be using PM6 pistons in a Y8 block so I can help out a bit:

As far as I know stock rods will work, though I can't say I know enough to be 100% sure.

Shouldn't have clearance issues as the PM6 has a flat dome, on a stock Y8 block (with stock rods) it comes under the deck about .002". If you're having the block blueprinted/hot tanked then clay it for clearance. Being sure of something is better than guessing, always.

YES, you will need to tune for an 11:1 Compression.

The search engine is a bitch, believe me I know, but these questions have been answered before. I asked them.

Also, if you haven't already been shown this, here is a pretty damn good compression calculator: (Link)
