So I bought a rebuild kit a few months ago...I`ve finished building the motor but I have these brown/black cap-like things left over (they are not threaded). I don`t know what the hell they are...anyone know?

When I rebulid a motor I relap the valves and install new seals 20K or 200K. Also if the head was hot tanked of sprayed down with somesort of cleaner it could of dried out the seals. For less than a dollor a seal and a hour of labor why not replace them.

I whole heartedly agree - I replace the valve seals on my race motors everytime I tear them down...depending on the motor, that can be every two to twenty hours of runtime!
