im sure that this info is some where on here, but ive been on here for more than an hour and cant find what i need.

Will the stock distributor retard enough for a boosted y7 on 9psi(W/ safcII)? or do i need a aftermarket system?

that will be controlled by your safc I guess... I know with crome, you can do step-retarding... never used safc.


the short answer, it is up to your fuel management unit...

yea depends on the boost because if it like....7psi or 9psi you should be alright. thats only like 7 deg. retard depending on car

whats the max retard you can get out of a stock distibutor? so i know that the safc will advance it so am i going to have to retard it more to make up for it?

if your running the "hack" like me (safc and dsm450 injectors) then retard the timing at the distributor 4*. this makes off boost driving a little sluggish but hey its the "hack" dont expect perfection.. plus its worked on my boosted y7 setup for 20,000 miles ..
