Hello fellow d-series friends I have a

98 civic ex D16y8.
Gude Port & Polish Head & Bull Frog Cam
Dc Header 4-1
Aem Cold air intake
Pulleys
Vemon 400 Fuel System
Apexi N1 Cat Back System
Apexi Vtec Controler


:roll: My Question is I want to run a test pipe in place of my Catalytic Converter When I put the test pipe on it sound like a bunch of mad bees or like [email protected] with the Apexi N1 System.
Any advise on how to fix it.




OBD1 Ecu with Spoon Chip is comming this Friday cant wait.

Are you saying put a glass pack in place of the Catalytic Converter and drill a hole in the glass pack for the o2 sensor? I’m in California it not easy to walk in a muffler shop and ask them to put ends on a glass pack with them knowing your replacing your catalytic converter. I was lucky there are people that sell test pipes online like how I got mine the price was not bad $60.00 I just wish it didn't sound like I have no Exhaust on my car. And I really don’t want to cut up the N1 Exhaust cat back system for a glass pack.

Anybody running a Random Technology Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter if so how does it sound and any power gain?

no....no...get the test pipe, and install a glass pack further down the piping b4 the muffler. It totally silences the car. Its like having two mufflers. But beware, you will have to replace it eventually..........High flow cats still plugg up the exhaust.....just bigger piping.......thats all :wink:

I had a custom exhaust made at a shop from stainless the same day I put my header on (and ditched the cat); he says' lets do a straight pipe and see if you like it'... man it was so loud I could hardly shift right... had him weld in a big diameter resonator, and it muffled the sound nicely, definitely to within legal limits (i'm in CA too) although the no cat thing doesnt fly to well with the smog only stations =)

those prices are way too high for a resonator!!i buy one for only $40.i have one installed i also have a n1 style exhaust it runs under the suspension and have only one bend. the only problem is ground clereance :cry:does the apex exhaust came with a resonator for the mufler??i have one for my mufler, it is always installed until is time to run!!then i remove it :D

im bout to buy a APEX universal N1 and have some custom piping made for it .. i was thinking bout takin off the cat .. but now im sacred too .. lol .. i dont want that shit to sound nasty .. so i need to get a resonator for it to sound good ? sounds good to me .. im also in cali ... only thing im worried about is .... S H E R I F F S

Not true I have bought 1 from ebay and one from testpipe.com with flanges. They both sound like shit with the N1 system. It's so loud I guarantee you will get pulled over. The N1 exhaust isn’t the quietest system out there on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the loudest) ill give it a 7.5 so remove the cat and put a test pipe that make your car sound like shit now you’re at 10+. I don’t realy wont to cut up the N1 system to put and extra resonator (glass pack) in line but it look like the only way to do it if you want to run a test pipe.

97 dx build up ... lookin to buy an EX head ... anyone have one?
