Im building a budget d16z6 turbo set up. I drive a DC5 daily but I miss my blown up boosted d so Im gonna build one up a little bit this time but I don't want to spend a lot of money on it because I won't be driving it much. My boosted d blew the ringlands after a few months on 10lbs making 220whp. The rods were perfect and so were the bearings. Im building this one and for sure putting Vitara's in it. But Im wondering how well the stock rods would hold up to around 12-14lbs tuned really well if I were to get them shot peened and use arp rod bolts. That's my question to you guys. Would stock rods hold up to around 240-250whp if they were shot peened. Keep in mind I won't be driving it but a couple times a week if that so they won't have much stress on em all the time. Thanks for your time!

You got lucky with just ringlands. Instead of replacing pistons, how would you feel with a hole in your block!

you can't use stock rods with Vitaras.
Have to use performance rods(H beams), and notch your block + girdle.

go with TT rods. just like everyone else said, you don't wanna be rebuilding your motor yet another time

Go with SRM rods on Ebay. exact same thing as eagle/TT but they are fucking $250 shipped. same exact rod good for 650hp. arps and all.

edit: well i dont see them listed anymore, but somthing that looks almost like mine. Ebay item Numer: Item number: 310012211696

Looks like those mihgt be some cheapo/fakes...just by the way they said "arp 12 point cap bolt"

thats an oldschool setup, you lose R:S ratio because the B16 rods are shorter.

its called a "panda setup" iirc

B16A Rods matched with non-US Supra 1G-GTE pistons
turbopanda started this trend on hondatech a long time ago. its more costly than the vitara/tt rods combo. it doesn't hold as much power either.
heres a couple of links though.
