can u do a leak down test if the engine is not running? to test if the head is shot or not? my timing belt went on my car and a buddy told me to do a leak down test to see if the head is shot on it.
assuming the car has to be running though?
i dont know much bout leak down testing gaaaaah

i think maybe he meant to put the belt on first, start it, then do a leak down test to see if any of the valves are done?

nope thats easy to see, remove the LMA the thing that holds the rockers and the cam in place, that will take pressure off the valves and then you can do your leak down test, no matter where the piston is it will tell you if your valves are screwed.
