He recently purchased a 1990 crx hf with a d15b6 he just wants to do bolt on mods to gain hp. He asked me if we can put a vtec head on his car because i'm doin a ls/vtec build i was wondering if a d16z6 head on his d15b6 if so what do you do to do it and if not what head should we go with ?

I can give you eight reasons as to WHY you can't use ANY 16 valve head on a HF motor.

Mini me is not a good idea on the hf block. Tell him to do an engine swap.

head vs. block

how well do you think this is going to work?

It is extremely possible...ive searched and searched for info on this swap and nobody has had the info i need so j just decided to go for it...used d16z6 head studs d16y8 cam gear (advanced 2 teeth) kept obdo dizzy with custom brackets (i fully intend on going obd1 when i have to to make all the conversion harness) but right now the thing runs stellar dynod it in at 120whp which is quite a substantial gran...remember also this is non vtec still so it will make more
AFAIK B2 B7 B3 (and 8-v B8 B6) have smaller valves and different distance between valves, so reliefs doesnt match either way. on the other hand, there's some minor clearance between (at least z6 head) and pm3 bottom, so yes it can be done, unless you want to go bigger cam.

personally i chose to enlarge reliefs with a dremel for a good clearance.

Non-vtec I have seen done with an A6 head swap, there is even a thread on here about it but with V-TEC you may be fine until v-tec engages and then pop goes the motor, intake valves into the piston.
