So my motor is unbolted from bell housing, but it still acts like its connected to the transmission, it separates about and inch but no more than that, I'm new to this, what am I doing wrong?

I have my head and everything off, the last part is the whole bottom end, but If I can I would like to not take the transmission out unless needed, I threw a rod so I need to replace the bottom end

you can pull pistons out the top. the question now becomes, how bad is the crank?

I think he wants to pull the block out as a whole. Bone and I pulled my last motor out as a whole, tranny/motor but I would imagine that you would unbolt the rear trans mount so you can rotate everything up and then pull the motor off of the tranny.
