Hello and welcome to the jungle.
We've got fun and games

Subject: EJ6 DX coupe automatic (all stock)

Status: Functional, overall "good" condition

History: previous owner had engine replaced approx. 60k miles ago
mild rust -size of quarter- in 2 locations (surface only)
rack&pinion needs replaced
shocks/struts need replaced
proportioning valve to be replaced (parts on hand)
transmission has random and rare slip 2nd/3rd
clear coat is starting to peel

goal: spirited DD

finances: mid-grade "budgeting"

I've researched so much I think I've researched myself out. Open to suggestions at this point. I've looked at OEM through full racing set-ups for suspension and lurked the archives on here. Kinda hit "the wall"
Thanks in advance for any insight you may offer.

5 speed tranny would be the first thing I did if it was me.

But you want a fun DD I'd just swap a b20 in there for cheap reliability and very fun to drive.

Or go with a small turbo setup. But being a DD maybe not lol.

Bolt one are fun to do and make some noise but if you want more then 120whp probably not the way to.go

You can build an NA Dseries at about 135whp.for pretty cheap using oem.parts and a aftermarket cam

Best bang for your buck on a DD leave it alone.

If you need something a little extra let a tuner at the ecu.
If you do just know the auto probably wont last long with spirited driving

whoa, didnt realize this post was even getting replies >_< surry folks

I hadn't thought about a transwap but it may get added to the list

considered b20 or k series - i haven't really dug into any of that just yet

I'd call this my DDT lol Daily Driven Toy- albeit an expensive one, she has a lot of life
and fun left in her.
