don't do it, unless it already looks like shit. If you just got faded paint the wet-sand that shit. I've had my car flat black primer for about a year, re-done it twice, rustoleom is the best stuff by far though, but if you must, I use 220 or 180 grit, then do a bunch of light coats, then wet sand with 600 then do a final coat = best results...

oh and try satin black looks better than just black primer.
and WALMART FTW! 3.77 a can haha

I was trying to get the point across to search this site and google because this knowledge is everywhere.

Theres no need for him to ask, a search would of pulled thousands of web pages on how to prep a car for paint.

im starting with the doors, should i
step 1)take the paint off
step 2) primer it then put body filler on the dents
step 3) sand it and primer it again
step 4) paint

???

Do any body work first
finish sand feather edges
prime
wet sand
base/clear

if you ever plan to get it truely painted, then don't waste your time with priming it now.
but..
1. take off old paint
2. body filler, and shape the filler (sand)
3. primer and wet sand
4. paint it w/e r/o color you want
