picked this up from cervan the other weekend, took the calve cover off today. Now before i start, im not downing/accusing or showing any negativity towards cervan in any way, hes actually pretty funny in person and has been a great guy in helping me with my build! even if his daily is a mercedes :p

anyways, this is what i found underneathe the cover... a lot of sludge, could this cause an issue or is it anything to worry about? gary said the valves have been lapped, and a few other things that i frankly cannot remember, onto the pics

the clean spot in the center is where i took some parts cleaner and a towel to it...

most junkyard heads will look the same....actually i've seen MUCH worse. if you really want to clean it up get it hot tanked.....but you'll need new seals.

or just run it and dump some seafoam in there. that should clean it up pretty well.

Pour gasoline on it and light it up! That'll clear it up! LOL

Anyways, Xtreme Green degreaser works wonders.

i'm not sure if you can reuse valve stem seals and i always replace seals when i disassemble something like this.
