I am looking to build a D Series at home and then get a 88-91 Crx Hf.
I'm pretty set on a D16A6 Block. I was wondering if there are any Non Vtec heads that are better than the D16A6. I happen to be good at porting and polishing and I can clean up the ports. Will any 88-00 Non Vtec head bolt on my D16a6 block? Am I better off using the D16A6 head? The cam is not an issue since I will be having one made paticularly to my specs. Also which D series intake manifold has the biggest plenum for me to make bigger?
What D series heads, blocks, Im's and throttle bodys are compatible with each other? I have my engine stand and tools al right here and I am ready to go pick up some used parts today. Let me know.

A non vtec head can handle a way sicker camshaft as well. Cams for the a6 will be widely available..........that plus some dual carbs= evil sohc set up! :twisted: Know what im sayin hondadog?????????? :wink:

I also think you could use the bigger valves from a D16A1...correct me if im wrong. But that would be sick. a quick a$$ crx made with all stock honda parts. :D

if you are planning to upgrade stuff like valvetrain and camshafts in the future. I'd stick with the A6 head. im being biased because we have alot of time on the A6 heads and have several camshafts for it.
Im sure the newer non-vtec heads have potential but who will take the time in Trying out new specs and test out how they work for the y7 head. its just not economical for us.
If you really want to see an A6 fly. try one of our camshafts and we have several stages available.

I just acuired a d15 from a 92 Civic. I'm gonna ditch the block but is the head a good head? How much does a d15 head and block weigh? No intake or exhaust manifold and no tranny. Just a complete head and a complete block. Will I be able to lift it alone?
