Ok, so i am going to put my B7 back in my car very soon. When I do this I figure I'll throw one of the heads I have on it also... just as a temporary "fun" thing... I have a Y8 head missing cam gear. I have a Z6 head missing vtec solenoid... I have a AEM Y8 cam gear also.. and the Z6 IM.

What do I do? What will work? What will I need (besides a vtec activator)?

I was thinking something like Y8 head, Z6 cam and IM? I dunno.. thought I would test it out... what do you guys think? Also, I need to smog my car soon (CA) so should I not even mess with it? Just drop the B7 back in and wait a while longer? I was gonna build up the Z6 head for boost while I do my normal daily driving thing (which is maybe 11 miles a week, tops).

Help me!!!!!! (I might have more info to add later I am forgetting about.. like a B16 throttle body.. assorted LS parts, etc.)

peaces.

Drop the complete b7 in. Get it inspected. Then use the z6 head y8 cam and y8 aem cam gear and the z6 IM. Bore out the IM for the larger TB. Sell the y8 head and buy a new vtec solenoid unless the y8's vtec solenoid will work(not sure if that will work. remember this is coming from a non-vtec guy)  Maybe get some 90-93 prelude OBD0 inj (260cc) and a resistor box for the OBD0 Inj's.
Just my opinion.

nice answer.. thanks. You sound like you got the right idea... so since I will not drop a vtec head on for the time being I want some headwork done also possible.. maybe just have the Z6 ported.

Hell yeah. Get that puppy all ready to drop on. A little pnp here, maybe upgrade the valvetrain, and in the mean time you can get all the little extra's like gaskets, dowels, head studs, and etc. It will be alot easier this way I think too because you'll have the b7 running all the way up until your ready to drop in the new head and IM leaving a smaller amount of downtime for you. Provided it all goes the way you want it to.

I wonder if you can get away with a mini-me for a CA smog inspection. They would just check the block if they were going to inpect anything, I think. The emissions shouldn't be too much different assuming they are the stock y8/z6 heads, right?

I'm going to be going through this in the near future so I'm concerned

Yeah, I was thinking it would pass fine. Last time I got a smog check I think he barely checked anything at all.. (note to self, go to that shop again for smog check)

I think I am just gonna wait though.
