I was doing a track day and spun a rod bearing. I'm sure it was all the hard cornering that did it. I'm using a z6 engine and bottom end with a y8 oil pan and pump. King xp rod bearings. Three of them are toast along with my crank and rods. I tried to run extra oil in the engine but it all went into my oil catch can. Before I went out the level was at 3/4 on the stick.

It there anything I can do to improve the oil pickup for race track usage?

y8 pickup
A y8 oil pump is the worst pump you can have fam.

Very notorious for spinning rod bearings.

A lot of people take them off and port them, but you would be better of using another OEM pump (z6, etc).

But at the end of the day (imo), it comes down to having adequate/new oil.

I do not believe any of the y7 y8 pumps are worse than others. The internals are identical to z6 pumps. My y8 pump is ported but that doesn't help when oil doesn't get to the pickup.
