I’m currently prepping to go boosted, from what I have read here I have a triple stage VTEC (two vtec solenoids!) which makes it a Z1 from a “VX”. My head cast numbers are (P2J-5) then the other two numbers are (95). I’ve looked this up and I found that this head comes on an automatic trans civic. I’m looking for the correct OEM part number for the double vtec solenoid gaskets, and where I can order/purchase them? Also, which OEM oil pump (#) do I use?
Thanks everyone 🤙🏼

From your post, it seems like you are thinking the head might be different than what should be mated to your block? Is this correct? If so, why do you feel the head/block are different? What is the engine code on your block? Also, what market are you located in? Can you confirm the presence of two VTEC solenoids as part of the single assembly on the back of your head? It looks like this:

I'm not too familiar with that head/engine combo, as what I know about it those engines together as a combo that show 3 Stage VTEC in the list below and other searching around the net very quickly never made it to the USA. But that doesn't stop engine importers so it is possible to be had in the USA. This will make getting parts a bit different, but not impossible. Knowing what market you're located in will help guide people's recommendations to you.

A quick search on the D Series Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine) revealed this:

D15Z1

VTEC-E

Found in:
1992–1995 Honda Civic VX
1992–1995 Honda Civic VEi (European Market)

Rod Length : 137 mm
Rod/Stroke : 1.62
Compression : 9.3:1
Power : 90 hp (67.1 kW, 91.3 ps) at 5,600 rpm (92 hp at 5,500 rpm; USDM)
Torque : 98 lb·ft (13.5 kg/m, 133 Nm) at 4,800 rpm (97 lb·ft at 3,000 rpm; USDM)
Valvetrain : 12-/16-valve SOHC VTEC-E (USDM- Lean Burn Federal Emissions 49 State) (3-4 valves per cyl depending on engine speed)
VTEC Switchover : 2,500 rpm

ECU Code : P07
Head code: PO7-1

It seems that the head code for the D15Z1 is a P07, whereas you had P2J stamped which would make it more likely any of the following, specifically the ones that point out 3 stage VTEC as you stated you might have the 3 stage setup (VTEC-E is different from 3 Stage, as 3 stage combines VTEC-E and regular VTEC operations into one head):

Let us know where you are, and/or a bit more background into how that head may have found it's way onto your block if they are different. I'm curious about the specifics!

Thanks!

It would be far easier to remove the valvecover, and compare the appearance of the valvetrain to confirm what you have.

Hi I am currently in kind of the same situation and want to know what kind of head for sure I have. I think it's a complete jdm d15b because it says it on the block but my head reads p2j-3 with 97 in the corner. Is this a y5 head? I can take pictures of the valave train. I would appreciate any help

200whp for a GOOD tune and a COMPETENT driver and GOOD maintenance.

120-150whp if you dont give a shit about the car, but have a good tune.

Stay stock if you never pop the hood occasionally to check on things.
