Alright so im trying to help a friend out with her civic she just bought from an auto auction. Its a 96 Civic supposedly an EX, but it has rear drums so i figured its not an ex? anyways the car has a D15z1 bottom end and a d16y8 head. Currently the CEL light is on for the knock sensor and Bank 2 O2 sensor. Anyone know some cheap tricks to fixing this knock sensor issue.

Ill see tomorrow what kind of ecu its running. she needs to get it through inspection asap so now shes hounding me to look at it and i need your help.

get a knock sensor, plug it in and let it hang

the z1 didnt have a KS i belive

as for the 2nd o2 go to auto zone get a spark plug defouler and plug it into the stock 02 sensor location then plug the o2 sensor into it if it has a bad cat or no cat

if the sensor is bad replace the sensor

well if its a dx/lx in fact then would a knock sensor need to be wired in? i think i read that the y7 didn't have a knock sensor.

correct y7 does not have a knock sensor. Just get a knock sensor plug it in the harness and lleave it be.
or if you have a chipped ecu disable the knock sensor.
for 02 just get the o2 sensor .
