I hope this isn't a repost, I searched and didn't find any other thread relating to this.

Anyway, saw this via TopGear...

Honda Civic Type R (2013) details at Frankfurt motor show | Automotive & Motoring News | Car Magazine Online

...I don't know much about distribution, but I find it unlikely to hit the US. Even so, if it did, that would be sweet. Honda's first production turbocharged Type R! I for one, welcome it. It would be REALLY sweet to make a CTR with significantly more than 200hp, N/A, high-revving, etc; but, I'm still excited for the new tech.

Thoughts?

My speculation - hatch version won't make it here but a version of the powerplant will.

Remember, the last gen UKDM CTR shared powerplant a with the USDM Civic Si. Perhaps the 276HP version won't make it here but I think ~240 is about right

The direct injection, we will probably see. The turbo, we will probably NOT see. As far as the engine tech is concerned. Direct injection is currently in the "earth dreams" engine line for the accord inline 4. The 6 is suppose to be coming to the honda line from the acura line, though I wouldnt speculate on the date of said upgrade. Hopefully before 2015. I suspect we would get a version of the "K24W3" from the accord sport when the civic si goes direct injection. Though I would put money they shrink the bore down a bit and rev it a lot higher. Personally, I am hopeful that the civic Si will have direct injection BEFORE the other civic engines go DI. Would help its name sake....
