okay so here soon i’m going to be boosting a d16y8. i am wondering if it would be safe to run a built head with a stock block running about 9psi. i’m trying to get the most of what i can without having to build the block and not blow the engine. also any tips or tricks?

The most you can out of a stock block depends ENTIRELY on the health of it. Are the bearings good? have hte rods ever had to deal with detonation?

160whp is a very reasonable and attainable power level, but if done with too small of a turbo on a stock block, can snap rods at low rpm and high load.

200whp with a bit of a laggy turbo can survive for years with proper attention and care to driving style and warmup periods.

But when parts these days are under $700 for a good built block and 300-500 bucks in labor at a machine shop can dial it in perfectly, well, why not? Hvae a ton more fun!
