Ok, I bought my CRX Si with a D16y7 engine in it. It's still OBD0; the car is still using the stock Si tranny and ECU. I know that the D16A6 is a much better engine than a Y7, but I can't afford to buy one.

Basically, I can get the A6 head for really cheap, and wanted to know if it would be worth putting on a Y7 block. Which block is better, the Y7 or A6? Also, what would the compression be (w/ stock pistons and rods)? Higher or lower? Thanks!!

The a6 may be a good block but you should keep the y7 head. 34.6cc chambers(y7) vs. the a6 38cc chambers. Not to mention the smaller valves in the a6 head. You should use the y7 head, a6 si cam, and the a6 block. I think your CR would be around 10-10.4:1 . Just my opinion. Wait for some more opinions.

Thanks for the reply. I know that an A6 block would be my best bet, but like I said I can't really afford one right now. So would you recommend keep the Y7 head and Y7 block combo?

Yeah thats what I would do. Eventually you can save some money up and maybe get some a6 pistons and srop them in which would be basically the same as an a6 block. Save money, but more work for you. If you want to you could swap your IM to a y8 intake manifold for some performance gains.
