I recently blew my stock 96 Civic stock D series motor, and the transmission was already going out. I am looking for engines and tranny's that will just bolt in. Now the real trick is I'm searching the junkyards for my haul. Are there any suggestions that I might find benefit in my current situation? Of course I would like to put something a little faster in like a B18C series or V-tech, but I doubt I will find either of them in a junkyard. So I'm loking for a combination package.

What junk yard motor and tranny combination would up the hp in my little Civic EX? I appreciate any responses.

First suggestion, to keep from getting flamed it is VTEC not V-tech. next, any d series within reason will "bolt" in. When you say you blew it what happened? rings? you can get an engine rebuilt for a reasonable price rather than buying used engines you don't know anything about. Go to local shops most of them have almost complete single cam swaps for cheap. I think it was gonna be 5-600 for a complete y7 swap a month ago. Just call everyone.
