Yeah i have aquired this nice Civic 2001 Si, 1,7 Sohc Vtec... engine runs fine except that the vtec wasnt engaging. A friend tested out codes and stuff, ( i dont remember code) but I remember he said, catalyzer problem. I think the guy that had it, removed the cat completly. :S .... So my question is :

Is there a way to bypass that or should i buy that part and fix it?

( ill have to check that error code again for you guys..)

depending on emissions regulations in your area, stock replacement may be the simplest option.

Lets get the proper code and see whats up..

Could be Vtec is working and you just dont feel it (the way that it was designed)

You must be in Canada eh?

The 2001 Si in the states was a K20A3 DOHC VTEC. In Canada it was a SOHC D17A2 in the Si trim.

Find what the code is and if you have a code because the cat is missing then I would replace it. You can get weld in ones fairly cheap compared to an OEM one unless you can find a junkyard.

Also... How do you know Vtec isn't working?
