Hey guys, Im interested in changing up my setup this year. Im running a D16a6 with a vitara block, head has a crane turbo cam and some mild port work.

I was running a cast "stainless steel" manifold with the wastegate offset, mated to a garrett 50 trim turbo and the setup is running fine as it is, but I am not a fan of how my downpipe is on the drivers side and has to curl under the turbo. My intercooler is a double backdoor aswell. Im currently running 25psi.

This is my manifold, but Im currently running the turbo flipped the opposite way

Im basically just looking for manifold ideas, that will fit in a Crx with a half rad that isnt ghetto slanted but is already mounted and in use. The Crx engine bay being the key part, its small compared to EG and EK.

Are there any good options out there that are new or exciting? I love the idea of cast, as there are no issues with cracking, but there arent many options. I like minirams but hate the oil drain issues..

Im just a little bored of my current setup

may I ask for pics of the dual back door intercooler?

also, if you know how to weld, you can buy a log manifold and weld it up with the wastegate anywhere you want it

I used dual back door as well. I also had my turbo "backwards" because I was a noob. (And it didnt fit the other way) I was using the go-autoworks style cast manifold with the central wastegate.

I think a miniram is gonna be the best bet for what you are looking for.

Something like this:

I always recirc the WG. Fuck me, but it keeps it nice and quiet so the cops a block over cant hear me. I am a huge fan of quiet exhausts. Last one would shake the windows and signs on the wall, but you wouldnt hear it pulling up, its a funny and rewarding experience.

I watched a turbo with no DP a few times and saw the flames poking up to a foot out the turbine. So I just always recirc >1ft and I never had the slightest creep. Rock solid. A Few on here have seen my set up. Maybe someday it will come out of the trees.

I dont think a log manifold would be an upgrade over what Im currently running

Have you ever seen a company with a miniram made for an EF chassis though? The wastgate usually gets thrown right into the hood latch support or headlight bucket in our chassis, I ordered an RCautoworks one in the past and it wasnt going to fit without substantial cutting and going to hood pins which Im looking to avoid. Ive had 2 cast manifolds since then

i ran probably no less than 10 manifolds in my crx trying to acheive what you are talking about before i said fuck it and pinned the hood and got rid of everything in the front. Made my own traction bar and used a godspeed ramhorn to mount my hx35.

My miniram and at first my full ramhorn i ended up making work with the stock hood latch and everything with a t3/t4

Yeah google isnt playing nice with image hosting it seems.

Here is the godspeed ramhorn with a chingchong t3/t4 strapped to it. I was running with the half size radiator ghetto leaned to hell then i decided to tuck the radiator with the sirroco radiator. I made a thread on how i did that.

here are the pics of my cringe worthy first turbo builds with the miniram, t3/t4 ching chong turbo and half size eg radiator. gotta love those home depot couplers.

And here is my hx35 on my full ramhorn. i had to make a traction bar to mount the radiator 2'' lower than any of the other aftermarket bars ive seen. I also moved the radiator as far as possible to the pass side to keep my rad fan from being melted constantly. I then removed the upper support and welded in hood pins. If it looks messy thats because i was getting ready to sell it.

Definitely a few interesting setups there! I definitely wont be pinning my ZC hood though.

I have the alpha CRX 1/2 sized rad so I dont have a lean but its not as tucked as that little sirocco unit. I also have the Innovative newest traction bar which has good ground clearance but is plenty far forward to not have to worry about down pipe or charge pipe clearance.

I also have my battery in the trunk

As of right now Im thinking my top choice is the Rev9 (spa knockoff) cast topmount. I found a thread saying the rev9 may have a different internal casting than the real SPA though so Im trying to verify. I love where it places the wastegate, all bolts are easy to access. Its biggest downside will be if I can get it to clear the hood.

Im not set in stone on that decision, Ive got about a month i figure to purchase something to give me a month or so to fabricate all new piping/hardware and to finally get off my ass and learn to use my aluminum spool gun attachment for my welder
i had a friend that had that cast iron top mount manifold, he liked it but because of the odd angle that the turbo sits at, instead of being straight with the engine causes alot of problems. he ended up buying an SPA adapter.

'khrys771' Is selling a Neukin VVR manifold ,that might be something for you.
It flows better then cast ,sits high enough to not have any drain problems and has the wastegate on the side.

You want to look for a manifold that sits high and close enough against the engine block.A Greddy cast manifold sits closer to the engine then your current cast manifold. But that wouldn't flow any better then your current manifold and hasn't got a external wastegate. Hellafab made this manifold for a i think a Turbo b16 crx .Something like this would work on your crx too .

He's on HT and FB .
