I've decided to make the D17 a little more of a bastard.

To bring everyone up to speed here's the current setup.

D16A6 block
D17A1 crank, rods, pistons etc
D16Y8 head and intake manifold
B16 throttle body
Comptech header

ZC 1-4th Si 5th and FD

The new setup:

Same 1.7 block but with a boosted 8 valve head. The idea is to get great fuel economy but to actually have decent power. I'm still debating on what transmission to build. Most likely it will be some sort of HF hybrid.

Now for the details. Looks like the HF cam has almost the same amount of lift as an Si cam possible more. An Si cam will not fit into the HF head without mods to the HF head.

Details here: http://www.slebidia.addr.com/images/tech/HF_head/

Turbo options... T25R or a small T25 from an TT 300ZX. I'm still debating this one. I don't know if the 8 valve head will flow enough to support the T25R but maybe the 1.7 will make up for the tiny ports. Tough call.

Ideas? Suggestions?

imo the 8 valve head will choke the motor and wont flow enough

but its worth trying right?? i'd say use a tiny turbo like an ihi rbh5 from a 626 or something.

he said before that he is using it for the fuel economy, and that he is only shooting for the 14s in the 1/4
