Ok so I bought my 97 4dr teg originally just to have as a daily but of course as we all know this never works out as planned lol. Anyways I got it with the black/light grey interior which is def better than the ever so popular nasty tan interior in 4dr's.Only thing sadly was my carpet was very nasty and the rest wasnt the cleanest, But I have big plans for it and I've always been a huge fan of black/dark grey and leather more than I have light grey. So the searched started for my conversion.

Im not sure how many people on here know much about db's and how hard black cloth and black leather interior is to find, but anyways I was determined to find it anyways my current goal a the time was do everything in the dark grey with the black leather door panels armrest and rear seats then match it with black leather front gsr's.

In the process since I was stripping the interior I decided to clean everything up underneath and take care of some of the road noise and any possible annoying rattles or vibrations in the future with some sound deadening material.

So before I started my conversion I had sourced everything I needed from the armrest to the door panels and carpet to the reat speaker cover.

So I started with pulling the front and rear seats.

As you can tell the carpet was ultra nasty.

Next I removed the center console.

Next I had to remove the few misc things like the trunk and gas door latch and dead pedal

Also you need to remove the side covers under the dash also

Then I started removing the carpet and the step side covers on on the outer edge under the doors.

Now the carpet is removed. If you dont feel like removing the whole dash to remove the carpet you have to cut it up towards the firewall. But since its hidden no one will ever know.

Old nasty carpet out

And as you can tell it needs some work

In this pic you can see the three sections finished vs the worst drivers section

Now here they are side by side now as most of you along with myself can see how bad actual covers look that came on the dark grey cover So I decided to switch them and was very happy how better it looked

So here they are switched MUCH BETTER

Cover off with nice new 6 1/2" pioneers. I was worried about them actually fitting but they did which was nice

I also decided to change out the third brake light cover also which is black and matched the other pieces much better

New cover installed

Next I started the sound deadening material

Now that thats finished it's time to install new carpet.

Next I went ahead and installed the rear black leather seats but wasn't planning on leaving them in very long

Only reason for not keeping them in long was because of these sexy beasts going in....Ultra minty db8 itr rear seat 9.5/10 condition Super rare in this condition

Ok so now to show how I got to this process because the db8 itr seats dont fold down and are a 1 piece back pad instead of a 3 piece and have an extra tab to hold it in place. So I did not want to modify the seats since obiously in the first place its hard to come by let alone in this condition. So I decided to modify the car the correct way.

So I was gonna need some tools

First I removed the latch and lock because I wouldnt be able to use it and it was in the way of what I needed to do

Then in the following picture you can see the prestamped outline of where the middle "third" tab would be normally for the itr seat.

So next I started cutting which didnt work out so well at first because I didnt have the correct attachment for my dremel

I then started thew fitment process

But afterwards I got the correct attachments and cleaned it up considerably and then installed the seat. It didnt take much just alittle tweaking and some time much better than cutting the tab on the seat and it fits perfectly. I had talked to several people and they said that since they cut the tab the seat wouldnt stay and fit properly.

In the last pic above you can see a minor gap that was becuase I hadnt touched up the cut out yet and it was not open enough for the tab to fit all the way in so it was keeping it from sitting flush.

During all this I also decided to switch out my lca's for some f7's because my blox ones were junk within 7 months

Dont mind the rust the car is currently tucked away and waiting for my wife and I to get our house so I can get it into a garage and start tearing it down and rebuild it from the ground up

Since this conversion I also landed another set of db8 itr rear seats in the same or alittle better condition than my own woot..I also snagged up jdm front recaro's and rocked those for awhile but decided to sell them and but another mintier set in the future when the car is ready to match the rears.

And I also have lots of other goodies which I wont disclose at this time. Hopefully more to come here in the next few months I have big plans for this car and this will be my first actual build.

I need black interior sooo bad. I HATE my tan/brown. Good work man.
If you weren't so far Id consider selling you my old interior minus the carpet but In reality I may use it for my other 4dr because its nasty tan but Im not sure on my plans for it yet.

And thanks Im sooo ready to have it in my own garage and actually doing more work on it.

Mannnnn, I really want the rear leather seats..
I'd be willing to buy them off you for a reasonable price, but I don't have access to the fs board...

Message me and maybe we could work something out? :p
