I have a 99 dx auto sedan with the stock d16y7 and trans. I figured since I'm rebuilding the motor I may as well get a little more pep and throw a y8 head and intake mani on my old block. Will I have any issues just plugging the y8 p2p ecu in and running wires for vtec or will I need to get the ecu programmed to work with my Ignition key. If so is it something I can easily do at home or should I take the ecu and key to the dealer and have them do it?

make sure you get a 99 y8 ecu since obd2a and 0bd2b are different plugs.

shouldn't have an immobilizer

wont work

y7 auto trans will NOT run correctly with the y8 ecu and its built in tcu. It will go down teh road, it wont KILL the trans, but it sure will complain constantly due to the gear shaft speed differences.
