I would recommend learning to read compressor maps. They will tell you everything you really need to know.
MHI 14b vs 16g Turbo For ~180WHP D16Y7
I'm planning on turbocharging my D16Y7 and am in the possession of both a Mitsubishi 14b as well as a small 16g. I'm looking to make around 180 hp at the wheels and wondering which would be a better option. I realize that the 14b would have a quicker spool, but the 16g would allow me to run a lower boost for the same power, thus decreasing strain on the engine. So yeah... which should I use?

Following your advice, I just learned and if my reading is correct, the 16g seems like a better option than the 14b. Thanks for the help.I would recommend learning to read compressor maps. They will tell you everything you really need to know.
use whichever one is in better shape...
