I'm planning on turbocharging my D16Y7 and am in the possession of both a Mitsubishi 14b as well as a small 16g. I'm looking to make around 180 hp at the wheels and wondering which would be a better option. I realize that the 14b would have a quicker spool, but the 16g would allow me to run a lower boost for the same power, thus decreasing strain on the engine. So yeah... which should I use?

I would recommend learning to read compressor maps. They will tell you everything you really need to know.

Following your advice, I just learned and if my reading is correct, the 16g seems like a better option than the 14b. Thanks for the help.
