Hi I have a D16Z6 with speed factory rods and vitara pistons. Skunk2 IM, 70mm TB, full 3 inch exhaust and 1000cc injectors. I got rid of my precision 5858 because it was too laggy. Boost came in at 5000rpm and came in like a hammer at 700rpm. I got a free Max speeding rods T04e .57 AR exhaust and was wonder what the spool characteristics of this turbo would be. The spec are :
Exhaust Inlet (Turbo Manifold) Flange: T3 Flange
Exhaust Outlet (Downpipe) Flange: 5-Bolt Flange
Turbine Trim: 74.2
Turbine A/R: 0.57
Turbine Inducer Diameter: 64.8
Turbine Exducer Diameter: 55.8
Compressor Trim: 48.1
Compressor A/R: 0.5
Compressor Inducer Diameter: 52.7
Compressor Exducer Diameter: 76
Cooling Type: Oil Cooled
Bearing Type: Journal Bearing

break out a calculator and start running some numbers. just from ^^ I would say you don't have enough engine to keep it happy

follow the link and do some math.

you can write it out here and someone who isn't dyslexic can proof read it for you and help you out.

I struggle top read turbo maps. Seems like a learning curve Im never drunk enough to understand lol

Hoever, since it says 2.5L engines+ , its going to be very laggy until near redline.

Compression and reduced cam overlap can onyl accomadate so much.


Have you looked into some of the oem saab/audi/subaruy turbo's? Some of the aftermarket repalcements are fairly cheap, and with some extra compression and dial;ing in your camshaft profile, you can get to spinning pretty damn good.

oh ok. That’s helpful. Yea I don’t want the same experience I had with the precision 5858 were it was dead until 7,000 rpm. Will check out the above cars. I believe Max speeding rods sell replacement turbos for Audi, Saab and Subaru. Thanks

Haha same boat. I have a 2 tiny volvo turbos (13c) and my buddy sent me that exact turbo but with a v band dp flange and wrote on the box in a sharpie "dont be such a pu**y"

I was looking forward to instant tq but im gonna install it just to humor him. He says even never seeing full boost it should move enough air to get me to 200hp, I was shooting more for 160ish but boost at 2k. Went to start it up today and have hopelessly lost the keys. Joy.
